Health & Safety
Safety and Health at the Workplace have Top Priority
Occupational and health safety are central elements of MWM's corporate culture. They are considered as fundamental pillars of MWM's sustainable business success. The MWM Management has adopted the protection of the safety and health of its workforce at the workplace as its primary duty. To ensure this, occupational and corporate safety is an integral part of all operational processes and comprises the active inclusion of all employees.
MWM actively involves its employees in the protection from accidents. Apart from the applicable laws and regulations, our employees apply a protection level that endeavors to prevent all accidents (zero-accident strategy).
Near Misses
A reporting system especially developed for this purpose informs the staff of near misses. Unwanted events that could have caused damage or an accident are documented and subsequently analyzed. This prevention program for occupational safety reduces the accident risk and raises the employees' awareness to critical situations in the future.
Health Day
Every year, MWM holds a special Health Day, on which the employees are informed about all risks in their daily work. With subject areas such as skin protection, noise protection, and information about general health risks, the Health Day has an important preventive effect.
Accident Statistics
22 reportable accidents in the FY 2010/2011. BGHM (Wood and Metal Trade Association) average: 43 accidents per 1,000 employees.
Environmental protection
Our approach provides for conversation of the environment, sustainable use of natural resources, and responsible use of necessary media. In the course of our operational energy management, we always strive to monitor and reduce the use of energy. We use 100% recyclable substances for our product packaging. Of course, we also use the technology we produce in our own company. The quality of our products, which focus on the use of renewable energies, forms the basis for the satisfaction of our customers and our neighbors in an urban setting.
Certification of the occupational safety management system
Due to the introduction of our safety management system we can comply our requirements for improving the health protection of our employees. In order to optimize this requirement in an on-going process, we are also planning the certification of the internationally recognized standard OHSAS 18001.
