The trademark showed the abbreviation &#8220;MWM&#8221; of the company name &#8220;Motoren-Werke Mannheim&#8221; in a double circle. Behind the three letters in the double circle, a climbing iron (also colloquially called &#8220;wolf trap&#8221;) was visible at the center, underlining the link to the city of Mannheim, whose city arms also includes a climbing iron. Formerly the climbing iron was used for wolf hunting and as a forest symbol. The trademark gazette of November 30, 1923 reported the fee for the registration of the trademark.
