This was due to a patent dispute between Munich-based \u201eS\u00fcddeutsche Bremsen AG\u201c (SB), which belonged to Knorr-Bremse AG, and Mannheim-based MWM. In 1926, MWM became a subsidiary of \u201eS\u00fcddeutsche Bremsen AG\u201c (SB). From then on, diesel engines were jointly developed and sold. This collaboration was contractually regulated and continued until 1986.
