We distinguish between four kinds of coal mine gas: Methane exhausted from unexplored coal beds (CBM), methane coming from active underground mining (CMM), methane exhausted from abandoned mines (AMM) and lean gas. Due to the high methane content of 30 to 95 %, especially CBM, CMM and AMM are suitable for the utilization in gas engines. Only lean gas cannot be used for energy generation, because of the low methane content of 0,2 &#8211; 1,5%.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_92417\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-92417\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-92417\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mwm.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/MWM-Coal-Mine-Gas_EN.jpg\" alt=\"Coal Mine Gas\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-92417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MWM gas engines in CHP plants using coal mine gas convert up to 90 % of the energy bound in methane into power and heat.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Captured mine gas with a sufficient methane content can be used in suitable gas engines to generate electricity and heat. This allows the methane contained in the mine gas to be utilized for energy.<\/p>\n<p>The energy utilization of captured mine gas makes it possible to use the methane it contains as a fuel to generate electricity and heat. In combined heat and power (CHP) systems, the heat generated can be utilized in addition to electricity generation. Depending on the system configuration and operating conditions, MWM gas engines can achieve high overall efficiencies in this process.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pro_grphc\">\n<div class=\"cntct_rght\"><a
