KKB chooses MWM gas engines for its CHP plant

According to a news piece in energy trade magazine BWK, the newly founded KKB Biogas GmbH & Co. KG has chosen highly efficient MWM V12 gas engines for  its biogas cogeneration plant.

Three German farmers and one software consultant founded the Kirchlinteln, Germany-based start-up company. Besides generating green power KBB's cogeneration plant (CHP plant) provides a nearby nursery with heat. This smart business offers an additional revenue perspective for agricultural companies

Serving as a key element of this concept, the applied MWM gas engine TCG 2016 C impressed the founders of KKB Biogas with an output of 600 kW and its high degree of efficiency of around 83 percent.

The gas produced by the biogas plant is used both by a 190 kW combined heat and power plant (CHP), as well as a 600 kW satellite cogeneration unit to produce 6,600 MWh of electricity annually.

“We are very satisfied, everything went without any problems from the very beginning”, said Gerd Clasen, Managing Director of KKB Biogas, commenting on the company’s formula for success. “A key reason is certainly that we have visited many plants in advance and carefully compared numerous offers. Ultimately, we decided to trust in proven components that convinced us with their performance. For instance, the MWM gas engine is unbeatable regarding its degree of efficiency,” added Clasen.
