Distributed Power Plant Solutions for a Smart and Green Energy Reform: Innovative MWM Gas Engines at the E-world and HortiContact

To connect sustainability and profitability in an efficient manner — that was what the E-world energy & water and HortiContact exhibitions in February were about. MWM participated as an exhibitor, presenting powerful gas engines and innovative products for distributed energy generation.
Powerful MWM Gas Engines at the E-world energy & water
From February 11 to 13, the 813 exhibitors at the E-world energy & water 2020 in Essen, Germany, presented their innovative solutions for ecologically and economically sustainable energy supply to more than 25,000 visitors. This year, Europe’s leading event in the energy industry focused on the rollout of a smart and green energy reform. For three days, experts from various avenues of politics, economy, and associations discussed the challenges and opportunities of the energy reform as well as new solutions for sustainable energy supply.

Needs-oriented power generation from controllable plants with flexible operation is the key to intelligent energy supply and a central element of the power system of the future. The MWM gas engines of the TCG 3016 and TCG 3020 series have been developed from scratch for perfect alignment with the challenges of Industry 4.0 and the changed framework conditions of a dynamic market environment in the age of global value chains.
Efficient CHP Energy Solutions for Greenhouse Horticulture
At the HortiContact in the Netherlands, the largest exhibition for greenhouse horticulture, from February 18 to 20, some 450 providers showed the more than 14,000 professional visitors solutions and technologies for greenhouses, including MWM products and gas engines. For the optimum growth of ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables, a lot of power is required for the lighting, irrigation, and heating of the greenhouses. For this reason, there is a great demand for sustainable and efficient energy solutions especially in the field of greenhouse horticulture.
Currently, combined heat and power (CHP) generation is the best solution for greenhouse horticulture without using fossil fuels. Due to the much better utilization of the primary energy, cogeneration power plants are the most efficient and eco-friendly method for the operation of greenhouses. Moreover, the nitrogen oxide compounds that are produced in the course of the energy generation can be purified and used as fertilizer for the plant roots.
Apart from the sustainability factor, the MWM TCG 3016 and TCG 3020 gas engines stand out with their high efficiency and greatly reduced total cost of ownership (TCO), which make these models ideal for use in greenhouse operations.
Sustainable and Innovative Energy Generation with MWM
The flexibilization of the energy generation according to the requirements of the energy market will continue to grow in importance. This is also evident e.g. from the results of the Coal Commission of Germany’s federal government. MWM gas engines can adapt to the individual challenges associated with customers’ energy concepts and can be used with various gas types and grades. The units are designed for maximum electrical and thermal efficiency, low operating and service costs, and high reliability and availability. Thus, they reach efficiency levels of more than 90 percent.
