At the Uthai Rung Co., Ltd. factory in Thailand, an MWM TCG 2020 V16 gas engine that runs in island mode produces power for the production processes. The MWM gas engine was installed by GPI Energy (Thailand) Ltd., the MWM distributor for Thailand.
MWM solutions provider İltekno has implemented another cogeneration project with MWM gas engines in Uzbekistan. To supply heat and power to the district of Chilanzar, İltekno has installed two MWM TCG 3020 V20 gas engines for the energy company JSC Thermal Power Plants.

MWM looks back on the financial year 2023. The Funkerberg cogeneration power plant in Königs Wusterhausen in the German state of Brandenburg—which was designated “cogeneration power plant of the month” by “Energie & Management” magazine—uses two MWM TCG 2020 V12 gas engines to produce heat and electricity for the connected households. Henceforth, previously unused exhaust heat is to be fed in via the cogeneration power plant and distributed to the city area via a supply route.
MWM Benelux B.V. has installed an MWM TCG 3016 V16 gas engine for the Dutch horticultural company Gommans Flowers. Using cogeneration (combined heat and power generation), the engine delivers heat, power, and fertilizer for optimum plant growth in a greenhouse complex.
In early 2023, an MWM TCG 3020 V16 gas engine was installed for the Nigerian plastics manufacturer Panar Group of Companies. Together with an MWM TCG 2020 V12 K1 gas engine, the new engine generates energy for the company’s production processes.
In 2021, company TEDOM installed a packaged TCG 3016 V12 as part of a modernization program of the district heating system in the city of Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav, Czech Republic. Since then, the generator set has been operating successfully for 12 to 16 hours a day in winter and about 6 hours a day in summer. Cogeneration enables the flexible generation of energy according to the consumer demand, saving fuel and resources.
New engines of the MWM TCG 3020 series can now be operated with a hydrogen admixture of up to 25 vol%. Existing plants with TCG 3020 gas engines can be upgraded with the MWM 25H2-Kit for operation with a hydrogen admixture of up to 25 vol%.
In 2021, the Rúbanisko II power plant went live in Lučenec, Slovakia, supplying heat and electricity to the local population. Since then, the TCG 3016 V16 has generated more than 10,000 MWh of power.
Turkish EPC contractor and MWM distributor İltekno has been active in Uzbekistan for many years and is known especially for the construction and commissioning of Uzbekistan’s first cogeneration power plant with gas engines in 2019. MWM Benelux B.V. has installed a new cogeneration plant with eight MWM TCG 2020 V12 gas engines for producer Wonderplant to supply energy and ensure optimal management of tomato cultivation following the expansion of its greenhouses.
The newly installed biogas plant in Lozovo, North Macedonia, with its two TCG 2020 V12 gas engines is able to supply approximately 4,000 households with electrical energy. The MWM gas engines used for this project were delivered in their highly efficient 1-MW variant. MWM Austria has won the tendering process for the maintenance of 18 MWM TCG 2016 V16C gas engines of the operator Veolia Energia Slovensko. The engines, which are installed throughout the city of Bratislava, supply the municipal power and district heat network with electrical and thermal energy.
In March 2020, MWM Spain received an order for the operation and maintenance of 10 MWM TCG 2032 V16 gas engines in Spain. The gas gensets support the utility provider Iberdrola’s goal of eventually becoming carbon-neutral.

“Energie & Management” magazine has designated the biogas plant of the operator Rohlfs Biogas KG in Wehrbleck, Lower Saxony, which has been flexibilized with an MWM TCG 2020 V20 gas engine, as “Cogeneration Power Plant of the Month” of January 2020. In late 2018, the last of the three cogeneration power plants of the Augsburg sewage treatment plant was fitted with an MWM TCG 2020 V12 gas engine. Thanks to the three MWM gas engines, the Augsburg sewage treatment plant is now able to cover its own heat and power demand and additionally supply energy for more than 800 households.

The “Growth, Structural Change, and Employment” Commission recommends a reduction of Germany’s greenhouse emissions by at least 80 percent by 2050 and regards CHP plants with flexible operation as a meaningful measure to reach the climate goals.

The MWM TCG 2020 V16 power genset installed by the Munich City Utilities for the cogeneration power plant of the Munich Exhibition Grounds delivers improved efficiency, more flexibility, and better eco-compatibility for distributed energy generation. The leading dealer of MWM gas engines and combined heat and power plants in the UK and Ireland Edina has received the company’s second Queen’s Award for Enterprise at its Stockport office, UK, on Monday 24th September 2018. The ceremonial award was presented by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.
Henceforth, most operators of CHP self-supplier plants from 1 to 10 MW of electrical energy that went live between August 2014 and December 2017 will have to pay a higher EEG surcharge under a transitional regime. Changes will also apply to operators of plants with an output of up to 1 MW and over 10 MW.
The Italian cheese in manufacturer IGOR in Cameri, Piedmont, receives a new MWM power genset with an output of up to 1,560 kWel for its production site. The new combined heat and power (CHP) plant is based on an MWM gas engine of the TCG 2020 V16 250 NOx series, which is designed especially for deployment in CHP plants and fallback plants capable of isolated operation, providing the manufacturer with maximum energy independence and security.
As the energy reform progresses, biogas plants continue to stand their ground despite difficult conditions. According to the latest forecast of the German Biogas Association (FvB), the total number of biogas plants in Germany will undergo a year-on-year increase of 163 (1.7 percent) to 9,494 in 2018. The current year could also see an increase of 268 MW in flexible output.
