MWM Distributor TEDOM Takes over Leading Cogeneration Enterprise Intergen
Mannheim, October 2, 2024
The multinational energy group and MWM distributor TEDOM has taken a step to strengthen its business in the field of combined heat and power (CHP) generation. By taking over the Italian CHP manufacturer Intergen S.p.A., the TEDOM Group further expands its expertise in the field of distributed energy generation and steps up its operations in the Italian market. Intergen will be retained as a brand and will continue to be present in the Italian market under the umbrella of the TEDOM Group.
Cogeneration power plants for distributed heat and power generation
For more than 30 years, the TEDOM Group has been developing, producing, and operating combined cogeneration power plants for distributed energy generation. The cogeneration power plants are sold worldwide. Apart from four production facilities in the Czech Republic, the TEDOM Group has several international branches, e.g. in Germany, the USA, Poland, Kazakhstan, and Slovakia.
Intergen: A Leading supplier of CHP plants in Italy
Intergen was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Lombardy, Italy. With more than 450 units sold and a total electrical output of almost 600 MW, Intergen is a leading company in Italy in the planning, construction, and maintenance of CHP and trigeneration plants. Intergen specializes in custom-tailored medium-size to large CHP plants and critical infrastructure for power generation. As an MWM distributor, Intergen rolls out projects with MWM gas engines and cogeneration power plants in Italy.
Italy: Fourth-largest European market for CHP plants
“Caterpillar Energy Solutions is pleased to see two strong, leading MWM distributors in the CHP industry merge”, says Rene Ludvik, Global Commercial Director at Caterpillar Inc. “This step enables the bundling of strengths and capacities in Italy, a significant energy market, for the best possible support of customers in their energy transformation.”
By taking over Intergen as a brand, the TEDOM Group is strengthening its presence on the Italian energy market. “This is another important step in the development of our CHP business”, says Ladislav Zeman, CEO of the TEDOM Group. “The takeover combines TEDOM’s strong product portfolio and manufacturing base with Intergen’s excellent team, infrastructure, and market position in Italy. This will enable TEDOM to move forward with its vision of a next-generation international energy group that efficiently combines energy services with in-house engineering production.”
“Intergen is one of the key players in the Italian market”, explains Alberto Guidotti, CEO of Intergen. Our first cogeneration plants defined the European standard, and our technology continues to drive thousands of major businesses that contribute to the success of the Italian economy. We’re happy to join forces with a partner who will support us in our growth and complement us in our successful operations.”
