Meeting of Active and Former Employees

Ten years into retirement, the company and the colleagues seemed far away. One day, to my surprise and delight, I received an invitation for the family day at Caterpillar Energy Solutions in Mannheim, Germany. I jumped at the chance to revisit my “old” company, which had changed a great deal in the meantime.

What can I say? It was really worth it. Not only because of the superb food and drinks that were served free of charge, but most importantly because of the fine opportunity to meet many active and former colleagues. The family party was wonderful. To my surprise, former sales managers also accepted the invitation to Mannheim.

A special highlight: The encounter with Mannheim’s Mayor Dr. Peter Kurz, whom I met during his tour of the production facilities.
